Today we went to my favorite pet store, Scales and Tails. We were going to get a heat pad for my other three bearded dragons but instead we got one basking light, some meal worms, and a HUGE Surprise!
Two really small, itty bitty, tiny tiny runts from a litter of bearded dragons! They were so cute and I asked the owner if I could hold one while him and my parents were talking. They were both only one month old and way smaller than the others. While I was checking him out, I saw he had a hole in his tummy. OH NO! I showed the owner and he told me what he would have to do to fix it. My dad made a joke to him saying "If you ever need a rehab house let us know!". To my surprise the owner of Scales and Tails
said "I'll make you a deal... If you can make them stronger and get better you can keep one!" So I said "That would be AWESOME!" and he helped me pack them up and we took them home.
Now they are in my old bearded dragon Hope (he got moved to a bigger one) tank running around
happily on their log and taking long naps under the heat light! They're quick as
lightning and are awesome looking! I really hope they make it. This is my second rehab on a bearded dragon. Previously I rescued one from the cold and garbage and named that one "Hope" because I was hopeful that he was going to live. Today is day one with Mickey and Merlin (I named them ) . Merlin is the slightly bigger one and Mickey is smaller than Merlin so Mickey is the official runt. Right now they are both smaller than my ring finger. I measured them today and Mickey is 3 1/4 inches long and Merlin is 4 inches long with a super neat tail. I will be doing a lot of updates about them so stay tuned!
